It also plans to cut carbon emissions by 30% by 2015

It turns out that doubling the R&D investment fund and increasing the employee number isn't all that Acer is up to.

Apparently, the company wants to become greener than before. Its plan is to reduce its carbon emissions and cause less material waste each year.

For the former, emissions are supposed to drop by 30% by 2015, and 60% by 2020.

For the latter, it is collaborating with Wistron to adopt recycled materials like plastic.

Wistron is one of the most “aggresive” recyclers, but it is expected that its attitude will catch on with others.

There isn't much of an alternative really. Environment protection is becoming more important, so using recycled resources could become the norm instead of the exception quite soon. Though “soon” in marketing terms could mean everything from tomorrow to several years from now.
