Acer has been selected by the Chile Education Ministry to be the curator of the “I Select My PC” program in the country. Thus Acer will be the sole provider of 60,000 notebooks to be delivered to outstanding students learning in economically vulnerable schools across the country.

Acer was selected to ship the devices, because the company fit into the program’s requirements and was proved to be able to offer all the four product categories included.

“I Select My PC” is a program designed to bring technology into the hands of capable students, who are living in a difficult socio-economic climate and don’t have access to modern study equipment.

One of the reasons the device-maker was selected, is the company’s own AcerCloud application. This particular piece of software will allow students to easily sync and backup their data from their notebook PCs across multiple devices, including smartphones and tablets (if they own such products) as well as the cloud.

Acer will ship the devices included in the program with a pre-installed customized interface and in multiple coloring options including pink, champagne, black and iron, which will certainly prove to be a treat for the little ones.

AcerCloud will enable students to security store and share, their school-related files but also photos, videos, music and much more. Select students will start receiving the Acer notebook PCs starting next month with a choice between four different four Acer computers.

The Acer Aspire E1-532 bundles a 4th gen Intel Celeron 2981 processor complete with dedicated graphics. The notebook features a 15.6-inch and will be offered with Internet access (provided by Netnow for the first year of use).

The Acer V5-473 is an Ultrabook with a 14-inch display that’s very easy to be carried around by students that draws life from a 4th gen Intel Celeron 2981 processor and like the model mentioned above it comes with Internet access.

The Acer Aspire E1-432P has a 14-inch display and is also a very reliable mobile solution. Power is drawn from an Intel Celeron 2955 processor and has the same 12 months of free Internet.

Last but not least, the Acer Aspire E1-532P notebook is powered by a 4th gen Intel Celeron 2981 processor and has a touchscreen display, which makes interaction with documents, websites and more all the more appealing.

All the laptops come with 500GB hard disk drive and complete with 4GB of RAM, so they can be used for every school-related activities, especially since they come pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 and Office Pro Academic.

As a side note, it’s a little strange Acer is not deploying its Chromebooks, devices designed especially for educational-purposes.
