Acer has just announced the introduction of the second generation of Aspire One Happy netbooks which now sport faster Intel Atom processors and are available in four new exotic colorways.

These carry names such as blueberry shake, papaya milk, strawberry yogurt and banana cream and were designed to cater to younger audiences who seek to make a statement through their gadgets.

Outside of their external appearance, the new Aspire One Happy netbooks also come with revised hardware as these are powered by Intel's Atom N570 processor.

The N570 is Intel's most powerful mobile Atom CPU to date and it packs two processing cores that are clocked at 1.66GHz, 1MB of Level 2 cache as well a support for the company's Hyper-Threading technology.

The new Atom processor is accompanied by a maximum of 2GB of DDR3 system memory and can be configured with hard drives up to 320GB in capacity.

Graphics is provided by the integrated Intel GMA 3150 GPU which is used to drive a 10.1-inch display that features a rather low 1024x600 resolution.

The feature list of the Aspire One Happy 2 netbooks also includes 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, an 1280x1024 resolution webcam and an optional 3G modem.

Users can also choose between two different battery packs, one with 3-cells that can provide about four hours of operation and one six-cell battery which can go up to eight hours without a recharge.

Around the edges of the netbook, Acer has placed three USB 2.0 ports, one VGA video output, headphone and microphone jacks, a multi-format card reader and a Kensington lock.

In Europe, pricing for the base model of the Acer Aspire One Happy 2 has been set at 299 Euros. This configuration includes an Intel Atom N570 dual-core processor, a 250GB hard drive and 1GB of DDR3 RAM.
