Third quarter report

Acer has recently posted a $90 million profit for the 2007 third quarter and it's beginning to take control of the computer market because it is very likely that the company could now be the third largest computer manufacturer in the world. Acer's recent growth was generated, in part, by the purchase of Gateway and PackardBell earlier this year. It is known that the company paid $710 million for Gateway but at the same time has gained a pending lawsuit from the investors who think that Gateway was sold at a lower price than its actual value and therefore they weren't paid enough. The merging between Acer and Gateway which was started back in August, has done exactly what it was meant to do, and that is to promote the Asian company to the very top of the most important computer manufacturers.

President of Acer Inc, Gianfranco Lanci, predicts that the company will see a 10-20 percent sequential growth in revenues and profit and a 3-4 percent growth in market share somewhere in the near future. It is considered that Acer currently holds about 8.1 percent of the market but this figure could soon change for the better, immediately after the Gateway purchase will be finalized. This merger means that Acer gained a pretty strong foothold on the computer market in the United States but at the same time, it is still known that the most important revenues are still going to come from Europe, Africa and Asia, at least for the time being.

Officials from Acer have also predicted that the company will ship 25 million products with 70-80 percent being notebook computers. Some say that Acer could have had even a greater profit if the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system hadn't been a part of the lineup... but up until now, Lanci hasn't given any public statement regarding this fact.
