While analysts are doing their best to find out what the chances for growth of each market segment is, Acer decided to see what its outlook for 2011 was in regards to terminal devices.

Like all other companies that have become world-class suppliers of hardware and PCs, among other things, Acer has a wide range of electronics in its portfolio.

This includes not just PCs (desktops, notebooks, netbooks), but also such things as e-readers and smartphones, among other things.

One of Acer's most recent moves was to look into the probable future of its collection of terminal devices.

According to Digitimes, the company will sell about 70 million terminal devices during the following year.

By terminal devices, the company, or so says the report, means notebooks, desktops, smartphones and tablet PCs equipped with the clear.fi software.

This software is one that Acer itself developed and which can connect TVs to any devices in close proximity to it which feature DLNA certification.

Fortunately, the report went into some specifics when it came to the actual plans that Acer has for its product line.

Apparently tablet PC products will be detailed more fully in a press conference slated to take place at the end of November.

On the other hand, the Revo RL100 desktop PC, which has just 1 liter in volume, will act as the control center of its cloud platform family.

Basically, Acer's corporate VP and Taiwan president Scott Lin seems quite optimistic about the company's 2011 performance as far as terminal devices are concerned.

The report did not mention anything about the outfit's plans in regards to everything else it has in store for its customers.

Still, depending on how the market for laptops in general progresses, and if demand does start to increase more solidly starting Q1, Acer may be just as, if not more optimistic about the remainder of its business outlook as well.
