Still expects to sell more products than in 2011, oddly enough

This is one move that other companies might end up following starting next year.

Acer just decided, if Digitimes is to be believed (and the news and rumor site often is, even if it is wrong about things once in a while), that it was time to simplify its product lineup.

As such, it will reduce its number of product collections based on profitability and expectations.

In other words, there will be fewer lines of PCs and whatever else, but not necessarily fewer products.

On the contrary, Acer hopes to increase the number of sold products by about 10% on year, or even more.

This also means that Acer's manufacturing partners won't suddenly be landed with the surprise of less or no further orders.

Acer hopes to finish simplifying its product portfolio by the end of the next three years.
