Even without being, technically, a slate PC, Acer is well aware of the fact that any device with “tablet” as part of its name is quite likely to turn heads wherever it goes. Whether for this reason or another, its Aspire 1825PT Timeline was created as part of the convertible tablet class. Designed as a sort of sibling to the 1825PTZ, the new laptop doesn't really fit into the same category as the iPad or HP's slate, but does its best to merge long battery life and portability with decent specifications and the functionality inherent in the latest OS from Microsoft Corp.

Tablets have only recently started getting real attention, mostly thanks to Apple's launch of the iPad. Convertible tablets, however, have been around for much longer and many specially-designed models are being used in various fields, such as healthcare. There are, however, versions that mean to cater to the needs of consumers which are interested in mobility but want higher performance than what netbooks can bring. This is exactly the kind of device that the Aspire 1825PT Timeline was meant to be.

Based on an Intel Pentium or Core 2 Duo CULV central processing unit, the tablet boasts 4GB of RAM, an 11.6-inch rotative display with a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, an HDD with 320GB of storage space and the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics. Furthermore, the mobile PC features a multi-gesture touchpad and a FineTip keyboard. As for connectivity and I/O, there is the obligatory Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and a 5-in-1 card reader.

The Acer Aspire 1825PT Timeline is fueled by a 6-cell battery and comes pre-loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Finally, while it has not yet been listed on online stores, the CULV notebook should become available soon, at a starting price of 599 Euro.
