When brand vendors unveil Chromebooks, they usually target it at the educational market, which includes both students and teachers alike.

But if owning a Chrome-OS laptop is not part of your agenda, there are plenty of other options to choose from. For example, Acer has just introduced the new TravelMate B115P laptop which will be marketed especially for students, but mobile workers too.

The laptop comes with a fanless chassis and runs Windows 8.1 out of the box. It’s also pretty light and portable, weighing only 1.19 kg / 2.62 lbs and being 21.2 mm / 0.83 inches thick.

The new Acer TravelMate B115P arrives with an Intel quad-core Pentium processor, fitted with 8GB of internal storage and backed up by a 128GB Solid State Disk.

The laptop has an aluminum top cover, so it should prove to be pretty durable during long-term use. Acer doesn't state the exact form-factor of the device, but we assume the laptop is a 15-incher that provides an HD multi-touch display.

The device is also equipped with a full-sized keyboard and high precision touchpad that should provide a decent typing and browsing experience.

Acer has added an HD webcam that takes advantage of the High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology to deliver clear images for when users are engaged in video conferences or group studies.

The laptop arrives with a bunch of extra feats like Acer Office Manager, which is a tool for remotely managing and controlling a company’s range of computers and Acer ProShiedld which keeps all the sensitive data safe form harm’s way.

TravelMate B115P owners can also quickly save their business contacts to smartphones via the Contact Pickup while Face Login lets users access their accounts via face recognition technology.

Since the device runs Windows 8.1 out of the box, owners of the laptop will be able to access apps like Skype, Office and the Windows Store.

Acer has pre-installed the laptop with a bunch of software some might consider bloatware, including Acer Touch Tools, Acer Screen Grasp (will let user capture images to be further used in Acer Scrapboard) or AccuFinger.

For those users who don’t need to rely on a touchscreen to go about their daily business, Acer also provides the touchless TravelMate B115.

Anyway, the pricing specifications for the new laptop haven’t been mentioned, nor the exact dates when the device will show up in retail. We’ll update you when that happens, though.
