Chromebooks have really taken off this year. We have seen Acer and HP launch a couple of Chrome-enabled devices, not so long ago (with one of them, the HP Chromebook 11 facing some issues relating to an overheating charger).

Dell has also pulled the veil off its first Chromebook machine and ASUS has been said to be working on two Chrome-enabled laptop models that will reportedly be launched in the first part of 2014.

Last but not least, Toshiba is also focusing some of its efforts on building a Chromebook. So if you find the idea of having a laptop running the Chrome OS in your life appealing and you are based in Europe, you should know that Acer has announced the official availability of its latest touch-enabled Chromebook for select markets on the continent, reports Notebook Italia.

The Chromebook C720P has been launched as part of Acer’s new marketing campaign “A Touch More” meant to highlight new products with innovative touch capabilities.

The laptop features an 11.6-inch ComfyView HD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and is the first Chromebook by Acer to enable touch gestures.

Like all Chromebook models today, the C720 comes equipped with the latest Intel Haswell architecture coupled with 2GB of RAM, in order to provide better performance and an improved battery life that can last users up to 7.5 hours of active use.

The C720P offers a 32GB SSD drive so you can store all your files, be it photos, videos or documents. On top of that, Acer awards 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI out and an HD webcam.

Users purchasing the touch Chromebook will also find enhanced security levels, including data encryption and verification of the boot startup meant to protect the device from online threats, malware and viruses. The standard 100GB of free space of Google Drive for two years are also offered here.

The Chromebook C720P will be made available in Switzerland, Germany, UK, France, Holland, Sweden and Finland for a price of €299.99 / $411.
