Acer prepares a number of Full HD LCDs, including a touch model, for shipment

At present, it would not be a stretch to say that Acer owes most of its growth during 2009 to the laptop, and especially the netbook, market. The PC maker has even decided to continue focusing on this segment. Nevertheless, the company does not seem to have any difficulties when it comes to its other ventures, and the display sector is no exception. In fact, Acer showed off the T231H touch monitor at Computex and, now, has made its official introduction, as well as that of a new series of Full HD models.

The Full HD LCDs that Acer intends to start shipping soon are part of the fresh H4 line. They are all widescreen monitors with panel sizes of 23 and 24 inches, as well as DVI and HDMI inputs.

As for the actual image quality, a brightness of 300 cd/m2 is complemented by a contrast ratio of 80,000:1, a 2ms response time, a viewing angle of 160 degrees (left/right) and, of course, the Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution.

Now comes the T231H. This LCD measures 23 inches and has the same native resolution as the H4 line (1920 x 1080). The panel also shares the 300 cd/m2 brightness, the 80,000:1 contrast ratio, the 2ms response time and the HDMI and DVI connectivity. Nevertheless, there are a number of extras. One is the obvious touch input support, whereas another is the Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) technology, which dynamically improves image sharpness.

In addition to ACM, the T231H boasts the Acer eColor Management technology, which adapts panel performance depending on lighting conditions and viewing preferences. Finally, Acer eDisplay Management provides advanced color calibration and display management features, as well as the ability to personalize the monitor and save or load certain settings. Unfortunately, no pricing or availability details have been disclosed for either of the newcomers.
