So far, it's been quite an impressive week for Acer, one of the leading manufacturers of portable computer systems. The company, which acquired Gateway back in 2007, has displayed at this year's Computex trade show in Taipei its very own low-cost notebook. Dubbed the Aspire One, the new product aims to provide Eee PC fans with an alternative to ASUS' offer. On top of that, Acer has also unveiled a 24-inch full-HD display, which was hyped as being a "world's first."

This year too was an eventful one for Acer, as it came with the unveiling of a couple of high-end products that made the headlines, namely the Aspire Gemstone Blue and the Aspire Predator. Both products are computer systems that not only bring high-performance, but also come with a stylish design, a thing that is all the more obvious with the Gemstone Blue. However, while this particular product might be targeted towards notebooks users, the Predator aims to provide gaming enthusiasts with a high-performance desktop ready to tackle any of the latest PC games.

With the release of its new full-HD 24-inch display, Acer might actually be trying to offer desktop computer customers the full package. Come to think of it, enabling the Predator's graphic power on a 24-inch full-HD display should be something to feast our eyes on.

Officially named P244W, the new display offers a wide screen 16:9 ratio and can cope with a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. At only 2ms (Grey-2-Grey) response time and a contrast ratio of 20000:1, this 24-inch display should be considered the right choice for any user looking to enjoy true multimedia experience.

Apparently, Acer's P244W is Windows Vista compliant and features Adaptive Contrast Management (ACM) control, enabling the users to benefit from an improved gradation and detail. The display also comes with support for HDMI connections. Unfortunately, the price tag of the P244 has not yet been officially revealed.
