It fits in a backpack and weighs about as much as an ultrabook

Not too long ago, it was unfeasible for video projectors, bulky and heavy objects as they are, to be considered viable items to take on a recreational trip. Acer's latest product challenges that preconception quite handily though.

Said product is none other than the K335 portable projector, which measures 9.1 x 6.5 x 1.8 inches, or 231 x 165 x 45 mm.

The product's weight is of 2.8 pounds, or 1.27 kilograms, which is about as much as an ultrathin laptop, ultrabook as it were.

So if you have a laptop and expect to go on a trip of some sort with lodgings that lack a TV, you can take the projector along for late-night movie watching.

After all, freeing up a 40-inch rectangle on a wall shouldn't be too hard, and it doesn't matter if the room isn't all that large either, because the Acer K335 can be as close as 3.9 feet to said wall.

On that note, the color saturation is of 95 to 130 percent NTSC, the brightness is of 1,000 lumens, and the DCR (dynamic contrast ratio) is of 10,000:1.

As for the resolution, it is of 1280 x 800, WXVGA. Not exactly Full HD, but still better than the usual 720p. It should still handle Blu-ray content and Full HD videos though, even if the resolution won't be as good as it could be. Not that it'll be easy to tell.

Furthermore, 2 GB of on-board storage will let you pre-load content, like a movie or a set of documents (for holding a business meeting).

"Consumers and mobile professionals who want a compact, yet high quality projector for using at home or the office will be thrilled with the Acer K335," said Edward Chan, product manager for Acer America.

"Its bright projection, long life and plug and play operation make it a practical tool for enjoying movies from the comfort of home or making a high-impact presentation to colleagues."

Acer expects the LED to last for 30,000 hours with the Eco mode enabled, or 20,000 hours in Standard Mode. Finally, the K335 has an SD card reader, USB, mini-USB, HDMI/MHL and a built-in Office and PDF document reader. Sales will start this month (December 2013) for $699 / €512.
