After paying special mind to the PC market segment, particularly the portable one, the Taiwanese company Acer has come forth and released its latest LCD monitors, the S2 line, whose first three members, the S222HQL, S232HL and S242HL, have already been detailed and priced.

Since consumers are just as eager for new products as always, it is not surprising that the company would refresh its display collection.

Acer didn't just throw out a bunch of new, bland monitors though, instead going for an ultra-thin design while still providing high image quality and arguably reasonable prices.

The aforementioned three newcomers, the S222HQL, S232HL and S242HL, have display sizes of 21.5 inches, 23 inches and 24 inches, respectively.

One of the more striking design elements is the ultra-thin frame of just 13mm, a thickness that is great deal more compact than most displays currently on the market.

What is even more interesting is that, even at this thinness, the black monitors support the Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.

Other quite intriguing specifications of the products include a response time of 2ms, a brightness of 250 cd/M2 and a dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of an impressive 12,000,000:1.

In order to achieve this performance and, of course, the super-slim form factor, Acer used LED backlighting, which also confers the benefit of energy efficiency upon the new models.

As for the design itself, it comes with a stand that allows for tilt adjustment. Finally, for connectivity with a variety of graphics cards, the devices have DVI and HDMI inputs.

With prices of 199 Euro, 219 Euro and 249 Euro, respectively, the Acer S222HQL, S232HL and S242HL have already been added to their maker's official website.

Finally, given their thin bezel and support for DVI, one may even use PowerColor's DisplayPort to DVI adapter and set them up in Eyefinity scenarios.
