Acer released monitors and TVs before, but it looks like it went for some sort of combination between the two concepts when it built the M2 Series of displays.

The new displays that Acer created are called M222HQML, M242HML and M272HML.

In that order, they measure 21.5 inches, 24 inches and 27 inches, respectively, and have prices of 199 Euro ($278), 249 Euro ($348) and 349 Euro ($488).

Online stores should have them listed soon enough, if they haven't already started to ship them.

What they are is a sort of crossbreed between TV and monitor, which means they qualify as hybrid devices, of a sort.

Granted, with how set-top boxes of today, and media player or whatever else, have HDMI and, for the most part, multiple ports and plugs, it isn't too hard to use monitors and TVs interchangeably, at least in some situations.

Nevertheless, there aren't many monitors, or TVs, that can truly say that they have all it takes to fully assume the role of the other.

These new Acer screens can make this claim because they have a DVB-T/DVB-C tuner and and 24p aka 24 fps support.

These come in addition to WLED backlights and all the other specs and features that LCDs of today commonly sport.

For people seeking the exact details, the native resolution of all three M2 displays is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, Full HD as it were.

Also, the brightness is a typical 250 cd/m2, while the dynamic contrast ratio of 12,000,000:1 is no slouch in any situation.

Furthermore, a response time is of 5 ms and, in addition to the aforementioned DVB-T/DVB-C tuner, Acer threw in S-Video, D-Sub, Component inputs and HDMI connectors.

Finally, by plugging an external HDD into the display's USB port, TV programs can be recorded and media can be played without the need for a PC.
