Acer just held a press event in Italy to announce further details regarding the availability, configuration and pricing of the Aspire S3 Ultrabook, which the Taiwanese company officially unveiled at the IFA 2011 fair at the beginning of September.

According to this new information, the Acer Ultrabook will go on sale in Italy on October 20 with a starting price of 799 Euros including VAT.

What's interesting to note is that VAT is set at 29% in Italy, which could mean that Acer may be one of the few companies able to release an Ultrabook retailing for under the $1000 US price tag recommended by Intel for such devices (excluding VAT, 799 Euros translate in roughly $875 US).

For this much money, Italian users will get an Aspire S3 powered by an Intel Core i5-2467M processor, which fits inside its 17W TDP two computing cores with support for the HyperThreading technology clocked at no less than 1.6GHz (2.3GHz maximum Turbo frequency).

Intel's fast processor is backed by 4GB of system memory paired together with a 320GB hard drive which works in a hybrid mode with an SSD drive.

On the connectivity front, things are just as interesting as the Aspire S3 comes with a full set of features including 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0+HSR as well as an HDMI port and a pair of USB 2.0 connectors.

The rest of the features list includes a 1.3 Megapixel webcam, an SD card reader, a single headset jack and a 13.3-inch display with a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

All these are housed inside a thin and elegant chassis measuring no more than 17mm at its thickest point.

According to Notebook Italia, Acer is getting ready to launch another four Ultrabook models for this Christmas season, all of them running Windows 7 Home Premium.
