14 DAY TRIAL // Acer pulled the veil off its Iconia W4 tablets back in October, after the slate had been spotted a number of times at Intel events across Europe.
Since then the PC manufacturer has pushed the device onto several markets and now it’s bringing it to the Indian market as well, says FoneArena.
The Acer Iconia W4 is part of the wave of Bay Trail devices that has recently surfaced, which includes models like Dell Venue Pro 8, Lenovo IdeaTab Miix 2, Toshiba Encore 8 and the upcoming ASUS VivoTab Notes 8, which made an appearance yesterday.
Basically all these device features similar specifications with some subtle differences, of course, but if you have a soft spot for Acer as a manufacturer, keep reading.
The Iconia W4 features an 8-inch multi-touch IPS screen with a resolution of 800 x 1280 and 178-degree viewing angle. Acer brings something extra in the display department via its Zero air gap technology used to leave no space between the touch-glass and the screen, in order to produce an improved touch-screen experience.
Power is drawn from a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 Bay Trail T processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. Also on the inside, there’s integrated Intel HD Graphics and 32 GB/ 64GB of storage, extendable via the microSD card.
Furthermore the slate has two cameras onboard (5MP auto focus rear camera complete with 1080p video recording and 2MP full HD frontal camera), Wi-Fi 802 11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, micro HDMI, microUSB.
The default operating system on board is, of course, Windows 8.1 so expect to see the device ship with Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 out of the box. The Iconia W4 has a 4960 mAh lithium Ion battery on the inside, so that should be enough to get you through a working session.
In India, the Acer Iconia W4 the 32GB version will sell for Rs. 24,999 / $401 / €293 while the 64GB will be available for Rs. 26,999 / $433 / €316 from retailers like Croma and Reliance Digital, but also online form Flipkart.
