After starting to sell the Iconia Tab A200 in various other parts of the world, Acer has now finally launched this Nvidia Tegra 2-powered tablet in the US where it will go on sale beginning with January 15 for $329.99 (roughly 257 EUR).

This price covers the 8GB version of the 10.1-inch tablet as for the 16GB model users will have to take out of their pockets $20 more, for a grand total of $349.99 (272.7 EUR).

Once it hits stores, the tablet should be available in both metallic grey and red, but no matter the color one goes for the specifications of the tablet are the same, at its heart standing an Nvidia Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip (SoC) device featuring dual processing cores at 1GHz, which is accompanied by 1GB of RAM.

Outside of the on-board storage, the tablet also comes with an additional microSD card slot which can be used to extend the total data storage capacity to 32GB.

Battery life is tipped at a maximum of eight hours, while for video conferencing duties Acer has also installed a front-facing 2MP camera (the A200 comes without a rear snapper).

All these are packed inside a case that weights 700g (1.54 pounds), while the 10.1-inch display that Acer has used for this tablet has a native resolution of 1280x800 pixels.

As far as software is concerned, the tablet comes pre-installed with the 3.2 version of the Android OS, also known as Honeycomb, which is paired together with a couple of specific Acer technologies such as the company’s control ring interface and its Clear.fi wireless sharing app.

Acer has however promised that in February of this year, it will also release an Android 4.0 firmware update for the Iconia Tab A200, in order to make it a more interesting option for its customers.
