IFA 2014 will soon be upon us and Acer will probably take the opportunity during the event to introduce a bunch of new tablets, since the company has been really active in this field as of late.

According to MobileGeeks, the company apparently has the Iconia Tab 8 A1-840 (the FHD model appeared at Computex) and the Acer Tab 8 A1-841 incoming.

The FHD model obviously brought forth a better than average 1920 x 1080 pixel res, but the two remaining models are low-end products that will sell for quite cheap rates.

Both models have 8-inch IPS displays with 1280 x 800 pixel res, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), N-Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE plus GPS. The tablets will be equipped with two cameras (2MP up in front and 5MP on the back) and a decent 4,600 mAh battery.

The Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-840 relies on an Intel Atom Z3735G clocked at 1.33GHz and going as far as 1.83GHz, while the Acer Iconia Tab 8 A1-841 relies on a MediaTek MT8389 SoC with four cores clocked at 1.7GHz.

The MediaTek chip might deliver lesser performance than the Intel one, but at least it offers the 3G functionality. What we’re not being told is whether the slates will have Android 4.4 KitKat onboard or not, but they probably will like the FHD model.

As for pricing, the Intel tablet will sell for as little as €140 / $187, while the MediaTek one will go on sale for up to €190 / $254 due to the 3G functionality.
