Almost eight months have passed since Acer Iconia Smart was announced and the smartphone is still a mysterious device.

Although the phone was confirmed to be headed to at least a dozen countries, Acer Iconia Smart has yet to hit shelves.

Due to numerous delays, even after the device was confirmed by Acer officials, the Iconia Smart phone has become a mirage.

However, a miracle is about to happen as Acer recently confirmed (again) that the smartphone will be available for purchase in Germany for €499 sometime in September.

While the news might be exciting for those who are still expecting this intriguing device, there's no telling if the device will be postponed again or not.

It seems that Acer is facing problems in launching some of its Iconia series products, including the Iconia Tab A100 and A500, which were also delayed numerous times.

The reasons behind these delays are unclear for the moment, as the company has yet to make any official announcement regarding the constant delay of its products.

As for the Iconia Smart, the device comes with a huge 4.8-inch widescreen display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, which makes it look like a tablet rather than a standard smartphone. In fact, this is what makes the device more intriguing and appealing at the same time.

Furthermore, the Iconia Smart is bundled with Java script optimization and Adobe Flash Player 10.3 support, as well as ultra-fast high-speed connectivity via HSDPA (14.4 Mbps) and WiFi N for data connection.

Hardware-wise, Acer Iconia Smart is equipped with a single core 1GHz Snapdragon processor, which, in addition to the large screen, turns this smartphone into a perfect game console.

The phone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, as well as Acer's 4.2 UI, which can be disabled whenever the user feels like.

Other highlights of Iconia Smart include an 8-megapixel main camera with LED flash, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for high-quality video calling.
