Acer announced its new Iconia A1-830 tablet a little before CES and the slate was put on display at the Las Vegas show.

Now it appears the slate is being prepped for retail launch in the first quarter of 2014, as it was spotted making a quick stop at the FCC on its way into the world.

This isn’t the first 8-incher Acer has put on the market, but it’s the first to sport an 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ CPU inside, as opposed to earlier models that were ARM powered.

The Acer Iconia A1-830 also boasts 1024 x 768 pixels display, 1GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, microSD card, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, dual cameras (5MP on the back and 2MP front-facing camera).

The operating system is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but rumor has it Acer is going to be rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for some of its tablets, including this one, somewhere in May.

The slate is supposed to be able to provide 7.5 hours of battery life and will sell for $149 / €110.
