After what can only be described as a long wait, budget conscious users who search for a Sandy Bridge powered laptop can finally take a look at Acer's Timeline X models, as the Taiwanese company has updated its popular notebook series to feature second-generation Intel Core processors.

No official announcement was made yet, but the many Timeline X laptop models powered by the new CPUs have already reached stores across Asia.

Right now, the initial batch is comprised out of the Timeline X 3830TG, 4830TG, 5830TG and the Acer 4750G and 5750 notebooks.

The three TG models feature similar specifications but their screen size varies between 13 and 15-inch.

Starting with the 13-inch Timeline X 3830TG, this comes configured with an Intel Core i3-2310M or Core i5-2410M processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT 540M graphics card, paired with 2GB of VRAM, 2GB of system memory, a 640GB hard disk and a pair of USB 3.0 ports.

The same configuration is also used for the remaining 14-inch and 15-inch models, but, this time, the notebooks are only available with the faster Core i5-2410M CPU.

All the three models support the same 1366x768 screen resolution, which suits rather well the 13-incher, but is extremely unappealing for a 15-inch notebook.

The other two Acer notebooks, won't be sold as Timeline X models, but they also feature Sandy Bridge processors, a Core i3-2310M in the 14-inch 4750G which also sports an Nvidia GeForce GT520M graphics card, and a Core i5-2410M CPU in the 15-inch 5750.

The Timeline X 3830TG is currently selling for $999 SGD ($792 US) when configured with the Core i3 CPU and $1398 SGD ($1108 US) when paired with the Core i5 chip.

The remaining two Timeline X models, the 4830TG and 5830TG, retail for $1,598 SGD ($1267 US) and $1,298 SGD ($1029 US), respectively. (via VR-Zone)
