14 DAY TRIAL // Acer has pulled the veil off its Acer C720 Chromebook at IDF recently. Now the company adds more details about the device, as it officially launches it across the US and other selected markets, including India.
Chief Technology Officer for Acer America Arif Maskatia said that “The Acer C720 is a significant step forward for our highly acclaimed Acer Chrome book line, as it delivers speedy performance, quick boot times, a matte anti-glare display and a slimmer design that is portable enough for anywhere use.”
“These key advances allow families and students to continue collaborating, learning and playing in exciting ways, all while staying secure since Chrome OS includes multiple layers of protection form online threats.”
Booting efficacy is one of the things Acer carefully highlighted in its presentation, as the device is said to take only 7 second to resume. The Chromebook is powered by a nifty Intel Celeron 2955U coupled with 4GB of memory, and users will certainly notice an increase in performance and an improved battery life of up to 8.5 hours.
The C720 model has been slimmed down by 30% and is only 1.9 cm / 0.74 inches thick. It comes bundled with a keyboard, so users can easily type emails and documents. In terms of display, Acer has added an 11-inch ComfyView HD display with a nice resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
The screen embeds anti-glare technology, which allows the device to be used in all sorts of conditions without being bothered by reflections popping up on screen.
As with every Chromebook out there, Google will give 100 GB of free Google Drive storage for the first two years since purchase.
The Acer C720 allows users to connect their other devices through the ultra-fast USB 3.0, but also offers USB 2.0. On top of that, there is HDMI out and an SD card reader.
American customers can grab their Acer Chromebook through Amazon.com and BestBuy, but at the moment the two sites only take pre-orders. The suggested price is $249.99 / €185.
