After Chromebooks were declared the saviors of PC sales for the Back-to-School period in the US, more and more manufacturers have announced their intentions to released Chrome-enabled devices in the year to come.

ASUS, for example, has made it pretty clear it is working on two Chromebooks destined to show their faces in 2014. Recently, Toshiba has been said to be gearing up to jump onboard of the same bandwagon, too.

And Google is trying to give a helping hand here, by making several optimizations to its Chrome OS in order to create a perfect touch-screen experience via simple and intuitive gestures.

In the latest Chrome blog post, VP of Product Management, Caesar Sengupta takes the opportunity to bring into the spotlight Acer’s latest touch-enabled Chromebook, dubbed the C720P. The new touch screen is supposedly going to provide a better way to browse sites, enjoy apps and do more with the Chromebook.

The Acer Chrome laptop features an 11-inch ComfyView HD display with a resolution of 1266 x 768 pixels. The producing company has added the latest standard in chip architecture here, slipping an Intel Celeron 2955U (Haswell) processor coupled with 2GB of RAM.

Customers will also be getting 32GB of RAM, which is quite enough for file storage. Acer and Google award 100GB of free Google Drive storage for two years, as well. On top of that, 12 free Gogo Inflight passes are added to the bundle. Other functions include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, USB 3.0, USB. 3.0 and HDMI out.

The post claims that Acer is a constant best seller on Amazon with the company managing to bring down the price of the touch-enabled device to a super affordable $299 / €220. Pre-orders for the device are available right now, but expect the Chromebook hitting shelves in a few weeks.
