The addition would add value to this otherwise decent product

Acer has launched the Aspire Switch 10 convertible back in April at a major event it held in New York. The device seems to have been designed to take on the ASUS Transformer Book T100, and in some departments it reportedly does quite well.

But UMPCPortal notes, one of the major flaws of the product is its skimpy battery life. Compared to its direct competitor, the Transformer Book T100 which has a 34Wh battery, the Acer only offers the services of a 24Wh pack.

However, there might be a solution to fix this problem. Apparently, performing a quick teardown on the keyboard reveals an unused PCB header space.

The bottom casing seems to have been designed to fill a space that’s delimited by 6 unused screw holes, but it’s quite tight. However, a 20-25Wh battery pack might still fit in.

The conclusion is the Acer Switch 10’s keyboard seems to have been designed with a battery option in mind. Now the question arises whether Acer plans to offer a spin-off of the original product that includes an extra battery?

Another possibility might be that Acer tried out this scenario at some point in the design process, but ultimately decided against it. What do you think?
