Of all the PC suppliers that have adopted AMD's latest platforms, Acer seems to be one of the most active companies, if not the most active one, at least on the mobile PC front. After being the first to unleash a netbook based on AMD's new technology, along with an ultrathin, the PC maker is now moving on to the mainstream market. To be more specific, Acer has unleashed the Aspire 5625 and 4625, “classy notebooks with an ultra-slim design and a chic minimalist look concealing powerful processors and advanced graphic solutions designed to deliver superior high-definition entertainment.”

The two machines blur “the boundaries between desktop and laptop” and “fulfill users’ expectations for superb functionality and fabulous entertainment.” With multi-core CPUs at their heart, the two also feature ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series premium graphics and CineCrystal TFT LCD panels with a native aspect ratio of 16:9. The feature set also includes up to 8GB of DDR3, up to 640GB of storage space, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi and optional Bluetooth.

“Faster performance and multitasking are ensured by the 2010 AMD mainstream notebook platform combining powerful processors providing multi-core processing with ATI Mobility Radeon HD premium graphics for desktop level performance and incredible HD entertainment with unrivalled visual quality,” the press release states. “Perfect for advanced multitasking, playing rich 3D games, music and photo editing, creating/editing HD movies the Aspire 5625 and 4625 notebooks are ideal for home-, school- and office-based users always on the move with demanding PC needs.”

Basically, these two laptops are meant to provide mainstream users with all the multitasking, gaming and multimedia playback capabilities that they need, both at home and on the move. Unfortunately, information on pricing and availability is unavailable, but these details should not stay secret for long, considering that the two machines are already on display in Cannes.
