Claims its 10-inch netbook has better LCD than ASUS' S101

Acer can really pride itself for what it has succeeded in the fast growing market for small-sized, low-power and low-cost PC market segment, as the company's 8.9-inch Aspire One netbook has managed to become one of the market's bestsellers. This has certainly determined the company to continue its path towards becoming the world's leading netbook vendor by 2011, which is why it has decided to roll out the 10-inch version of the aforementioned netbook model, announced on January 2009. Apparently, the company is very confident in the market potential of its next-generation Aspire One netbook, according to some recent statements made by company officials.

Just recently, Acer's Taiwan President of operations said that he was expecting the global shipments of netbooks to reach 25-30 million units this year, with an estimated 40 million units for the next year. This should account for approximately 15 percent to 20 percent of the overall computer sales. An impressive number, to say the least, given that these computer systems are relatively new to the market.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that it has been launched approximately one month ago, the 10-inch Aspire One is yet to make itself available for purchase. On that issue, the company's chairman, J.T. Wang, responded: “The reason for the one-month delay is because we wanted to make sure all the top components are ready in this new model, from panel to battery and computer processing unit.”

Apparently, according to the company's chairman, the 10-inch Aspire One uses an LCD panel that is “brighter and more saturated than” the one used by ASUS for their high-end, stylish S101 netbook system. To put it more simply, the main reason for the market delay of the new 10-inch Acer netbook is due to the company's commitment of providing its customers with a high-quality product.
