Company officials deny the speculations

Abit is considered by many as one of the best manufacturers of motherboards. Apparently, this isn't enough to overcome the rumors according to which the maker is thinking of leaving the motherboard market. The main reason for Abit's rumored actions seems to be related to the low performance its Intel 4 series motherboards shipments have recorded.

The manufacturer, which is also preferred in the gaming community, is claiming that all this is nothing but pure speculations and that it will continue to develop motherboard products.

It appears that Abit has failed to rise to the expectations of the parent company Universal Scientific Industrial (USI) in trying to compete with fellow second-tier makers in terms of performance. Its unsuccessful market performance is also due to it not being able to compete with first-tier makers in terms of pricing in the mid-range and entry-level market. Allegedly, this is the reason for which the company is reconsidering its status on the motherboard market and thinking to start developing other products under the Abit brand.

If the company succeeded in shipping 2-3 million mobos in 2007, this year they failed to rise to their six million goal. Even more, the current motherboard shipment is said to have decreased, compared to the same period last year. It seems that Abit still has high hopes with its current P45-based motherboards which, if also unsuccessful, might bring the company's motherboard product line to an undesired stop.

One of Abit's highly awarded products was its Fatal1ty lineup, which was aimed at providing gaming users with high performance computing support. The Fatal1ty lineup includes the FP-IN9 SLI, AN9 32X and F-190HD motherboards, all of which provide support for Intel LGA775 capable processors. The Fatal1ty products have been advertised as being the product choice of the famous gamer Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel.
