Their romance ended in 2003 but he’s still carrying a major torch for her

Hilary Duff announced last weekend that she and husband Mike Comrie had decided to end their marriage and the news, far from saddening former beau Aaron Carter, seems to have relit the torch of hope in his heart. He’s thinking they could get back together.

Aaron and Hilary dated on and off for a little over two years, from December 2000 until early 2003. At the time, their romance would often become a topic of gossip in the tabloids, mostly because he was having a very hard time staying faithful to her.

In fact, what is believed to have broken the camel’s back was the fact that he dated both Hilary and Lindsay Lohan at the same time, and somehow deceived himself into thinking he could keep it up for a long time and no one would ever find out.

This happening when Aaron was a hot shot and Lindsay was still everyone’s favorite, they got busted. He broke up with her and Hilary took him back, but she still ended the romance when she found out he had cheated on her again.

Now that she’s single again, Aaron is hoping he can win her back, as he admitted to one of his Twitter followers in several DMs, as this screenshot here allegedly confirms.

Shortly after the separation news broke, Aaron tweeted a couple of cryptic messages that his fans assumed were about Hilary. “I can’t even think right now :|,” he wrote. “ok I’m back to thinking normally again! Lol and no don’t ask I’m not telling you why I said I can’t think right now,” he continued.

As he probably anticipated, this actually prompted one of his followers to ask him why he’d said that, and Aaron DM-ed him with an explanation that seems to indicate that he’s still pining away for his long lost love.

“Yea I’m cool. It’s just I’ve been waiting for her like half my life now. It’s just kinda sad because your right she might not ever give me a chance again. I can only pray and try to be a good man. That’s it,” Aaron wrote.

Fans who grew up with Hilary and Aaron (and all the Lindsays of the time) must be thrilled right now to hear of a reconciliation, even if it’s only in Aaron’s hopeful mind for the moment.
