The Indian Government will start distributing an improved Aakash II tablet in May (2012), and now we know just what will work better.

You'd think that improvements would demand some rise in price, but that is not the case.

In other words, the 7-inch Android 2.3-loaded tablet will get a free boost.

For one, the slate will have a better touchscreen, for more responsive taps and swipes.

To elaborate, the resistive panel will be swapped with a capacitive one.

Secondly, the battery will be replaced: instead of a 2,200mAh model, a 3,200 mAh power source will be included.

Everything else is the same old configuration that Datawind settled on: an ARM Cortex-A8 processor at 700 MHz, 2 GB of Flash memory, etc.

For those who forgot, the price is of $30 (22.77 Euro), but students will get it for free (probably).
