First look at upcoming thriller promises lots of scares, even more tension

Chris Sparling, who wrote the script for Ryan Reynold's critical success “Buried,” is now offering another similarly space-confined thriller: “ATM.” See the first trailer for it above.

Brian Geraghty, Alice Eve and Josh Peck play three young people who get trapped in an ATM in the middle of nowhere after a night of partying, on their way home.

They're not trapped in the sense that something is wrong with the door, but rather that they can't go out: because there's a killer waiting for them there.

As if that's not bad enough, they also have to consider the possibility of freezing to death as they wait for help to arrive in the morning.

The trailer doesn't offer any explanation for why the guy in the furry hood wants to slash them to pieces, but we imagine that's a key piece that will only be revealed at the end of the film.

“ATM” seems like your typical slasher thriller, the kind of which we've seen plenty in recent years, but it's probably still worth a look – if only to see how things play out in the end.

It will be out later this year.
