The next generation of graphic chips proposed by ATI , the R520 series, has been announced for June, and it is possible that the chips will be present at the Comdex event from Taiwan.

The information about this launching has been made public by one of the marketing managers from Sapphire, who was interviewed by a gaming site.

"We expect ATI to announce the new GPU in June, and depending on this they will also supply details about our offer", said, EMEA Marketing Manager for Sapphire.

The R520 model will be graved using 90 nanometer technology and there are rumors that point out the fact that this chip will have up 32 rendering pipelines, that's twice the current number of pipelines. It remains to be seen how many of the 32 pipelines will be activated when R520 is released (at least 24 pipelines for the "Fudo').

This decision will be taken according to: performance limits ATI has for this model, the number of video cards, and the minimum number of completely functional pipelines.

Foster made a few comments related to ATI's response to the SLI technology developed by nVidia. The Sapphire official said that ATI plans to offer a more flexible and stable solution.

ATI will propose a solution which allows the two PCI- express video cards to simultaneously render a frame.
