Fixes a number of bugs and other issues

The latest ATI graphics drivers are here to satisfy the needs of the Linux gamers out there. ATI Catalyst 10.5 comes with preliminary support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop and Server 11 Service Pack 1. It also fixes quite a lot of Linux-specific issues and bugs. Other than that, it’s just a regular evolutionary update, nothing to write home about.

Highlights of ATI Catalyst 10.5:

- support for SLED/SLES 11 SP1; - Hybrid Crossfire no longer causes an error report from dmesg after starting X; - if one monitor is unplugged in dual-head mode, the remaining one continues to work properly; - hibernation no longer causes a Kernel panic with PCI cards in RHEL 5.4 x86_64; - system doesn’t report a failure when turning off the discrete card in PowerXpress mode; - support for the 1080i30 and 1080i25 HDTV modes with HDMI, DVI and DP displays; - when running multiple monitors with different resolutions, the primary display will retain the correct default resolution; - dmesg no longer reports an error during hibernation; - recovering from sleep mode will no longer cause the display number overlay to become corrupted.

Supported operating systems:

· Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) suite; · Novell/SuSE Linux product suite; · Ubuntu Linux (including 10.04).

Requirements:

· XOrg 6.8, 6.9, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 or 7.5; · Linux kernel 2.6 or above; · glibc version 2.2 or 2.3; · POSIX Shared Memory (/dev/shm) support is needed for 3D applications; · You need all of these packages before installing: XFree86-Mesa-libGL, libstdc++, libgcc, XFree86-libs, fontconfig, freetype, zlib and gcc; · For the best experience, you should also have: the kernel module build environment, either the sources or the headers, and, if you plan to use the RPM packages, you need to make sure the RMP utility is working properly.

There are some known issues in ATI Catalyst 10.5 for Linux, so you should check out the release notes (PDF) before upgrading to ensure you don’t run intro trouble.
