Mobile phone carrier AT&T is gearing up for the release of Samsung's latest flagship Android-based mobile phone, the Galaxy S II, and some info on the matter has just emerged.

Apparently, the wireless services provider would plan on adding a keyboard-less version of the Galaxy S II to its offering, the same as other operators in the country would do.

The smartphone was already rumored to be on its way to the US wireless carrier under the name of Attain, but no specific info on it has been made available until now.

Not to mention than some of the previously leaked details on the matter suggested that AT&T would also have in store the release of a Galaxy S II smartphone with a sliding QWERTY.

This handset was previously spotted into the wild, but, although it is part of the Galaxy S II family, it might not be launched under this name in the end.

As for the keyboard-less Galaxy S II smartphone, which should resemble much more with the original, it might be launched as the Attain, just as rumored not too long ago.

According to the available details on this device, it should run under Google's Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system, and would sport a WVGA touchscreen display when made available.

The Galaxy S II is already a highly appealing device, but it seems that Samsung might have improved its recipe even more, so as to attract as many users in the United States to its side.

While specific info on the new mobile phone’s release date is not known for the time being, chances are that it might not be too long before things are made official.

Rumor has it that Samsung would plan on launching the device in the US in August, and the fact that it was almost listed on the company's US website can be seen as a proof of that. Keep an eye on this space for more in the matter.
