Mobile-phone carrier AT&T announced recently that it would soon add to its offering yet another interesting handset powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, namely the HP iPAQ Glisten. The phone, which was previously spotted into the wild as the iPAQ K3 Obsidian, will become available for purchase from AT&T within a matter of weeks, being priced at $179.99 upon the signing of a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate (pay $229.99 and receive a $50 AT&T Promotion Card).

The new handset will become available for purchase with a full QWERTY keyboard and with a touchscreen display, which is 2.5-inch large, boasts a 320 x 240-pixel (QVGA) resolution and supports 65K colors, as well as with a 3.1-megapixel photo snapper with video-recording capabilities and with the possibility to edit photos via the HP PhotoSmart Mobile solution that has been packed with the new device.

The specification list of the new mobile phone also includes support for GSM/GPRS/EDGE Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and UMTS/HSDPA Tri-band 850/1900/2100 MHz frequencies, as well as 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of ROM, and a microSD memory card slot that allows users to include up to 32GB of additional storage space into the equation. Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g with WPA2 security also comes in to complete the connectivity options of the new HP iPAQ Glisten.

The phone comes with a 1590mAh Lithium Ion battery capable of delivering up to five hours of talk time or up to 15 days of standby time. The Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system will also enable users to enjoy a series of applications and capabilities, including email, Internet browsing, SMS and MMS, or access to the Windows Marketplace for Mobile from where they can download apps and content directly to the handset. All these features have been included in a device that measures 4.45 x 2.48 x 0.52 inches and weighs 5.29 ounces.
