Mobile phone carrier AT&T and leading single source provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services Numerex have announced recently the extension of their agreement to deliver services for M2M enterprise markets. According to the duo, their partnership is aimed at expanding the network and application technologies available for their customers and should also offer real-time network device management services and faster availability of M2M solutions on the market.

According to the new deal, the carrier is to deliver to Numerex access to the AT&T Control Center, a move that will expand the former’s distribution in the M2M market. According to the two companies, their customers that offer services to the end-user market, including energy, healthcare and security companies, should benefit from integrated services and new components used in the development of M2M solutions.

“AT&T is committed to help drive wireless capabilities into a wide variety of devices beyond traditional handsets for businesses,” said Chris Hill, vice president, mobility product management, AT&T Business Solutions. “As part of our focus on M2M communications, our expanding relationship with Numerex to include AT&T Control Center enhances our ability to explore cost-effective and efficient solutions for our business customers.”

As many of you might already know, AT&T already announced earlier this year an agreement with Jasper Wireless to provide exclusive U.S. access to AT&T Control Center. Jasper Wireless, a leader in the M2M market, offers best-in-class business management, operations and support tools for customers. Numerex’s strategy, which is based on the fast and easy development and deployment of applications, will be correlated with the AT&T/Jasper network services.

“Simplifying M2M solution development, facilitating the on-boarding process, making it easier to manage the product life cycle, and providing best-in-class support, are all key to securing and maintaining long-term relationships with customers,” said Stratton Nicolaides, Numerex CEO and chairman. “The opportunity to address the needs of enterprise customers comprehensively with AT&T is very exciting as we anticipate new innovative approaches to delivering M2M services.”
