The Puccini started out as a name in rumors, then got labeled Jetsream and, now, AT&T has finally made the official introduction of this tablet loaded with Android 3.1.

It was just over ten days ago that a certain HTC tablet was identified as a slate that AT&T would soon offer to its customers.

Sure enough, the carrier decided that the Jetsream's launch (the product was previously known as Puccini) was a good way to close the month of August.

Jetsream is the first 4G LTE/HSPA+ tablet that AT&T has to offer and is loaded with the Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, developed by Google specifically for this sort of mobile electronic (Android was a smartphone-only OS originally).

“This tablet is a beautiful 10.1-inch, LTE powered masterpiece,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

“When you combine powerful options like HTC Jetstream with our upcoming LTE technology and nationwide HSPA+ network, it flies.”

Underneath the screen lies a hardware configuration reliant on a dual-core Snapdragon processor with a frequency of 1.5 GHz.

For those that want a better idea of what to expect, the 10.1-inch slate has a native resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels (WXGA), two webcams (front-facing and on the back, respectively), a microSD card slot and a 7,300 mAh battery.

September 4 is when shipments will start, for the price of $699.99 with a two-year contract. Full ordering and data plan information can be read here.

“HTC Jetstream combines the acclaimed HTC Sense experience with Android Honeycomb to provide an innovative and engaging experience on a 10.1 inch tablet,” said Martin Fichter, acting president, HTC Americas Region.

“Paired with AT&T’s upcoming 4G LTE speed and mobility, HTC Jetstream delivers connectivity for social and entertainment needs alongside productivity and creativity tools in a portable package.”
