AT&T announces Xora GPS Locator Phone Tracking Solution for its business customers

Wireless carrier AT&T and Xora Inc. announced on Tuesday that a new GPS Locator application had been introduced into the operator's offering, meant to deliver small and medium-sized businesses the possibility to see in real time the position of their mobile workforce. According to the duo, the new solution is easy to deploy, and comes as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application that will help AT&T business customers enhance the productivity of their field workers. Moreover, the new solution also offers cost reductions when it comes to overtime and fuel.

The new Xora GPS Locator application can be used on most AT&T handsets, including basic phones, rugged devices such as the Motorola Tundra and Samsung Rugby, or smartphones like the BlackBerry Bold. In addition, the app also offers compatibility with laptops and different industry devices. According to the wireless operator, the new service is expected to be rolled out by the end of this month.

One of the advantages the app offers is that no software needs to be installed on the phone, which means that deployment is accelerated. When field employees have their handsets powered on, office staff are enabled to see their locations through Xora’s Web-based maps and reports. Moreover, the company also announced that the Xora Web interface came with Google Maps, street, satellite and hybrid views, as well as real-time traffic information.

“With the addition of Xora GPS Locator to our portfolio of enterprise mobility applications, small and medium-sized businesses can better manage their mobile workforce on a wide variety of AT&T mobile devices,” said Igor Glubochansky, director, industry solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. "The resulting increase in productivity and reduction in expenses are especially critical today, with many businesses being challenged more than ever to remain profitable in a sluggish economy.”

The new app can prove a great choice for small to medium-sized businesses in areas like construction, field services, transportation and distribution. The Xora GPS Locator from AT&T offers easy deployment, as well as enhanced visibility and accountability for field operations. The app is based on Xora’s GPS TimeTrack solution, and can be accessed through the same web-based portal as Xora GPS Timetrack and Xora GPS Timetrack In-Vehicle.

“Once companies gain real-time visibility into the locations and activities of their mobile employees, it's like someone took the blinders off,” said Sanjay Shirole, CEO of Xora. “More importantly, as a result, companies can take action based on what they are seeing in order to improve the efficiency of their business. The result is that more gets done with fewer resources and in less time, leading to greater profits - and that is how success is measured in most companies.”
