Wireless carrier AT&T announced on Thursday the launch of two new 3G LaptopConnect devices, namely the AT&T USBConnect Turbo from LG and AT&T USBConnect Velocity from Option. According to the company, both devices are expected to become available for purchase via AT&T retail stores, business channels and online on March 7.

The Velocity comes towards AT&T's customers as the first GPS-enabled LaptopConnect device from the carrier. The built-in GPS features offer the possibility for a wide range of location-based applications to be used, and the device also comes with the Option GPS Control Panel, meant to offer directions and local points of interest from sites like Yahoo! Maps and Bing. The Option GPS Control Panel is set to become available for download on March 7, AT&T adds.

The AT&T USBConnect Turbo is the first LaptopConnect device the carrier launches from LG Electronics. It comes with a compact, lightweight design and sports HSPA 7.2 capabilities, offering users high speed Internet connectivity. The ergonomic design and the USB connector make the new device compatible with a wide range of laptops, AT&T also notes.

At the same time, the carrier announced that the two devices came with an integrated microSD memory card slot so that users could enjoy them as portable storage too. Both new USBConnect devices offer connectivity with AT&T's fast 3G network, while also enabling access to more than 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots. Not to mention that both Velocity and Turbo come with global compatibility, so that users can enjoy their functionality when abroad.

“Velocity and Turbo both offer a first for AT&T: our first GPS enabled LaptopConnect device and our first LaptopConnect device from LG,” said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. “In addition to being compatible with our latest HSPA technology, the two devices let AT&T customers get more done while on the go. From traveling professionals to students, AT&T offers a LaptopConnect solution for everyone.”

The AT&T USBConnect Turbo is set to arrive on carrier's lineup for free after a mail-in rebate and the signing of a two-year DataConnect contract for a minimum of $35 per month. The AT&T USBConnect Velocity will land on March 7 priced at $29.99 after mail-in rebate and upon the signing of a two-year DataConnect contract agreement with the carrier (for at least $35 a month).
