LG Vu is finally officially confirmed by AT&T, together with Samsung Access and the carrier's brand new MediaFLO-based mobile TV service. The two handsets are the first from AT&T to pack support for MediaFLO and, as the mobile TV service, they will be commercially available starting May 2008.

Simply named AT&T Mobile TV, the new service will allow the carrier's subscribers to view, on their handsets, a wide range of TV programs and media content from top entertainment brands like FOX Mobile, MTV, CBS Mobile, Comedy Central, NBC 2GO, NBC News2Go, Nickelodeon and ESPN Mobile TV.

Talking about the newly announced service, Mark Collins, vice president of Consumer Data for AT&T's wireless unit, said: "AT&T Mobile TV is a powerful new mobile entertainment offering, which will give our customers a formidable lineup of sports, news and prime-time shows, including two channels exclusive available to AT&T customers. We are thrilled to team with MediaFLO USA to offer our customers an unmatched mobile entertainment experience that is changing the way we all look at TV."

LG Vu, finally confirmed now by the largest carrier in the US, is a handset that many users are waiting for, since the beginning of the year. The phone comes with a sleek look, a wide 3 inch touchscreen display (pretty good for viewing TV programs on the go), HSDPA for up to 3.6 Mbps of data transfer speeds, a 2 Megapixel camera, full HTML browser, Bluetooth and microSD card support.

The second mobile TV phone, Samsung Access, is not really an impressive device. Besides looking good and supporting mobile TV, it only brings a 1.3 Megapixel camera, quad-band GSM connectivity and other basic features.

For the moment AT&T gave no details about the prices of LG Vu and Samsung Access. However, users should expect the Vu to be quite expensive, while Samsung Access will be a more affordable TV phone.
