AT&T, the largest mobile operator in North America, has announced that, together with a group of famous musicians, it will record an "AT&T Team USA Soundtrack" in order to support and inspire the US Olympic Team participant in this year's edition of the Olympic Games, held in Beijing, China, between August 8 and 24. This initiative comes as a result to AT&T being the official partner of the US Olympic Team.

The artists that will contribute to AT&T's Olympic musical endeavor are: 3 Doors Down, Sheryl Crow, Kate Voegele, Army of Me, Colbie Caillat, Lady Antebellum, Clique Girlz, Flipsyde, Mere, the rapper Nelly and others who should be announced soon.

All the songs recorded by the above mentioned musicians will be available as paid downloads, for AT&T's users in August, for various fees. The revenue resulted from the downloads will be used to the benefit of the US Olympic athletes.

Jamie Butcher, vice president of AT&T Brand Sponsorships, stated: "The Team USA Soundtrack really represents the spirit of the Olympic Games. Top musical artists are joining together to inspire and encourage Team USA, and fans have the opportunity to connect with and support athletes by downloading the soundtrack. It's another terrific opportunity to show our support for these amazing athletes and demonstrate how AT&T is truly evolving into an entertainment brand."

Sheryl Crow, the country-pop-blues-folk-rock singer, also said: "It's really inspiring to see world-class athletes compete and give their all at the Olympic Games. It's my job as an artist to encourage others through music, and I'm honored to work to support Team USA through this soundtrack."

Until now, there are no detail on what exactly the artist will sing about, but Nelly (the St. Louis rapper known for showing off lots of expensive accessories) could very well sing something like: "good luck to the US athletes from the Olympics / who will get medals smaller than ma' blings."
