Last year, wireless carrier AT&T launched a testing program for its 3G MicroCell in certain markets, and now we learn that the company has decided to extend the availability of the solution to more markets than before. This would be the second extension made to the availability of AT&T 3G MicroCell, and more states and metropolitan areas can now enjoy the features of the solution.

Among the markets that can now grab the 3G MicroCell from AT&T, we can count Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, San Diego, and Las Vegas. Customers living in these areas can access AT&T's website to see whether the solution is available for them too, and, in case it is, they will be provided with a list of locations from where they can buy the MicroCell.

Among the features of the device, AT&T highlights: - Enhanced coverage indoors – supports both voice and data up to 5000 square feet - Available unlimited minute plans – individual or FamilyTalk plans. - 3G handset compatible – works with any AT&T 3G phone. - Supports up to four voice or data users at once. - Device is secure – cannot be accessed by unauthorized users, easy and secure online management of device settings - Seamless call hand-over – start calls on your 3G MicroCell and continue without interruption, even if you leave the building. The 3G MicroCell is a portable device, meaning that customers can easily move it around to enjoy enhanced connectivity in new locations. However, the carrier recommends one installs it near a window so that it has better access to Global Positioning System (GPS), since the connectivity is needed during the initial startup. A series of other requirements are also in place, including a 3G wireless phone/device, broadband service over DSL or cable, and Internet access from a computer for online registration.

The AT&T 3G MicroCell is a device meant to offer enhanced connectivity over small areas, so that nearby AT&T devices can enjoy full connectivity to the existing home broadband network. The solution can cover an area of around 5,000 square feet, and comes at a cost of $19.99 per month for the services it is associated with. Additional details on the device are available on AT&T's website.
