AT&T is now offering a new color version of the Sony Ericsson W580i Walkman phone ? a red one, more exactly, for all the mobile users who like their handsets to stand out (at least through their color, if not through their features or overall design).

This is the sixth color that the W580i comes in, after white, black, gray, "jungle green" and pink, which only goes to show that the handset is quite successful. The red W580i is offered by AT&T for the same price as the previous versions, hence red-loving users will be able to get it for as little as $99 with the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

Released by Sony Ericsson in July 2007, the W580i is a mid-end slider mainly targeted for youngsters. Its features include: a 2 inch TFT display with 262K colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Walkman music player with support for MP3, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+ formats, dedicated music keys, shake control, trackID, stereo Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, FM radio with RDS, quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE, email (MSN, AOL and Yahoo!), MEdiaNet Web browser, fitness applications and pedometer, Java MIDP 2.0, embedded games (including "Pacman & Ms. Pacman", handsfree, speakerphone, organizer, T9 predictive text input, Memory Stick Micro card support and a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording.

Sony Ericsson W580i weighs 3.3 ounces (94 grams) and, when closed, it measures 3.9 x 1.85 x 0.55 inches (99 x 47 x 14 millimeters). The 930 mAh Li-Po battery included in W580i is capable of providing up to 9 hours of talk-time and up to 15 days of stand-by time. Or, for those who want to exhaust the battery life only by listening to music, the W580i can offer up to 20 hours of continuous playback.
