Since Computex is the large-profile international trade show that it is, ASUS brought quite the bunch of devices there, some of which are part of the new series of ultraportable mobile computers.

As Computex participants are already on site, official announcements have already begun to pour out of Taipei, Taiwan.

ASUS, of course, is among those present, having already delivered the Eee PC X101, a very thin netbook powered by Intel's Oak Trail Atom Z670 CPU.

The outfit also developed the so-called PadFone, a sort of tablet that can house a smartphone and borrow its performance, so to speak.

Turns out that the same company issued an immense press release in which it introduces a large variety of different products.

One section of the PR announcement focuses on a new series of ultraportable notebook, dubbed the UX series and created with the latest second generation Intel Core central processing units.

This line of chips already sets quite the high level of performance, even though the thickest point of the product is just 17 mm.

In fact, even a Core i7 chip can be chosen, while internal storage is provided by a SATA 6 Gbps solid state drive.

The full list of specs isn't made perfectly clear, but the outfit did make a point of mentioning the light aluminum alloy shell, large keyboard, reinforced hinges and design overall inspired from so-called luxury timepieces.

"Breaking the rules and changing the status quo are the keys to our success, and we strive to offer customers an experience that surpasses their expectations," said Mr. Shih.

The UX series can last for up to 7 hours on a single battery charge, depending on hardware choices and the tasks one has it perform.

Finally, the Instant On feature allows it to power up very fast, making sure that users can start or resume work whenever they wish.
