ASUS is apparently encountering resistance from Google, but the reasons are unknown

Earlier this week I wondered whether we were actually going to see ASUS’ dual-OS tablet/laptop hybrid arrive on the market or not.

The device has been made available for pre-order in Europe, just a few weeks after being announced at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, but since then the 2-in-1 machine has been removed everywhere online, leaving no trace to prove its existence.

And it appears the theory might turn out to be correct. A recent report published by Economic Daily News (via DigiTimes) claims ASUS will be likely forced to discontinue the ASUS Transformer Book Duet due to encountering resistance from Google.

ASUS originally planned on bringing the device to Asia and Europe and then make it available in the US in the second quarter of the year. But it appears these plans have been dropped. ASUS has been contacted to comment, but has declined to do so.

There’s a weird pattern emerging here, since other dual-boot machines have inexplicably never made it to the market after being announced, like the Samsung ATIV Q. So will we ever see dual OS tablet/laptops hybrids on the market?
