Not content with making strides on just its motherboard and EeeTop markets, ASUS has made the official introduction of a laptop that will likely become the new flagship multimedia mobile powerhouse that the company has to offer. Known as the N82J, the fresh laptop combines the best in mobile technologies, allowing it to achieve performance levels and a power efficiency enabling its maker to describe it as “an ideal choice for consumers on the look for a powerful machine to do their media content, productivity and entertainment justice.”

The N82J is powered by an Intel Core Series processor, namely a choice of Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 chips. The chosen processor is backed up by up to 8GB DDR3 memory, with a frequency of 1,066MHz, as well as a 7,200RPM SATA hard drive of 320GB or 500GB capacity.

There is also the option of using a 5,400RPM storage unit, which can be of 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and even 640GB storage. Furthermore, the laptop comes with a Blu-ray combo drive or a DVD Super multi, as well as a 2-megapixel webcam and the NVIDIA GeForce GT335M with DDR3 1GB VRAM.

The entire machine measures 345 x 243 x 33-35 mm, weighs 2.3kg, comes with an eight-cell battery and has a 14-inch screen with a maximum resolution of 1,366 x 768. Also, in order to reach the maximum power efficiency possible, the ASUS N82J is equipped with the NVIDIA Optimus technology, which only activates the discrete graphics card when applications demand it. The rest of the time, the PC uses the integrated graphics that consumes less power, enabling the battery charge to keep the system running for longer.

As an added benefit, the N82J, like all ASUS N Series notebooks, features USB 3.0 connectivity and runs the Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit operating system. Unfortunately, there is no word on pricing and availability.
