Asus is taking the Eee brand to new heights, providing computer users with a couple of new products that are basically built on the same Intel Atom platform. The latest is a network-attached storage device dubbed the Eee PC station, which the Taiwanese Company has showcased at the CeBIT show in Hanover, Germany. The product appears to be ready for the consumer market, delivering to home PC users an alternative solution to other, conventional NAS products currently available.

According to the computer maker, the Eee Station PC NAS is able to provide uninterrupted operations even when switched off. The solution is capable of delivering to users up to two Terabytes (2TB) of storage space, as it offers space for two 3.5” SATA2 HHDs, which can be configured either in RAID 0, RAID 1 or JBOD.

In addition, the Station also packs inside an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, as well as 2GB of DDR2 RAM memory and 512MB flash ROM. The NAS features a 3.5-inch LCD touch screen, an 802.11n MIMO AP Router, LED indicators for WLAN, LAN, Power Recovery and HDD status, and a slot-in DVD-RW.

When it comes to connectivity, the new ASUS Eee Station PC NAS provides users with one GbE WAN, 4 GbE LAN, 4 USB, 1 DVI and 1 Audio I/O port. The solution includes hot keys for DVD ejection, wireless on/off switch, and a power button. In addition to a 65W power adapter, the company has also packed the station with a 3-cell Li-ion battery UPS, which is capable of providing up to 15 minutes of off-line power.

The new ASUS Network-Attached Storage solution is able to prove itself as a great option for the storage, back up and sharing of multimedia files and data when paired with any personal computer, while also being capable of providing multi-server capabilities.
