According to the latest round of rumors on the Internet, ASUS, the creator of the Eee PC, is expected to unveil a new ultra-portable computer system that appears to adopt the same design as the company's stylish Eee PC S101. Said laptop boasts a 12.1-inch display and has been leaked on the Internet through a bunch of high-quality photos that have surfaced on the German-language site, Eee PC News. There is little info regarding the specific technical details of the new ASUS ultraportable, but there's a general belief that the Taiwanese company could be announcing the new laptop in the near future.

The Eee PC S101 was launched as a high-end alternative to all those 10-inch Atom-powered netbooks that have been released in the recent months. The netbook is built on the same Atom N270 platform that is featured across all other netbooks on the market, but its overall design and build quality set it apart from its competitors. The rumored S121 laptop is also expected to be built on the same Atom N270 platform, but with a slim and stylish design and a slightly larger screen size.

ASUS might surprise everyone by releasing the new lappy as a real competitor to Apple's ultra slim MacBook Air, especially since the pictured laptop doesn't appear to have the Eee PC moniker. The S101 comes very close, in terms of specifications, to the MacBook Air, but the system is essentially built on a netbook platform, designed to provide the very basics in computing technology. The S121 might just provide enough room for a better graphics chip, while the increased keyboard size would potentially allow for a better writing experience.

As mentioned earlier, there aren't any specific details on the laptop, aside from the pictures attached to this article. It will be interesting to see how ASUS will price the rumored S121, 12-inch laptop, especially since the S101 comes at a MSRP of $699.
