14 DAY TRIAL // ASUS is preparing for the upcoming holiday shopping season, announcing a number of new products that is designed to meet the requirements of today's consumers. On that note, the company has just introduced a new series of ultraportable computer systems, dubbed the UL Series, which has been designed with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, coupled with NVIDIA's dedicated GeForce G 210M graphics solution, to deliver an impressive visual experience in an ultraportable form factor.
As part of the new series, ASUS has introduced several new models, including the ASUS UL20, UL30, UL50 and UL80, all of which are built on Intel's GS45 chipset and measure less than one inch in profile. Kicking off with the low-end UL20A, users will be able to take advantage of the latest ULV Intel processors, of up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, a large-capacity, 320GB hard drive, all within a portable PC that has been featured with a 12.1-inch LED Backlight WXGA (1366 x 768) display.
Following the UL20 is the slightly better UL30A, which gives users a choice for a 13.3-inch display, a built-in 0.3MP webcam and optional 3.5G WWAN. This model also provides users with a choice for a large-capacity storage solution, with up to 500GB of space available. Following the UL30 laptop is the UL50, which comes in two versions, the UL50A and UL50Ag, with the former boasting support for a DDR3 memory, while the latter offers an option for DDR2. Unlike the previous models, these 15.6-inch laptops also come with a built-in DVD Super-Multi optical drive. ASUS also offers a 14-inch mode, in the form of the UL80Ag, boasting 4GB of DDR2 memory and Intel's integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics solution.
Last but not least, there are the 14-inch UL80V and the 15.6-inch UL50V laptops, which combine Intel's low-voltage processors with NVIDIA's dedicated graphics chip. Based on the same GS45 chipset, the ultraportable laptops have been featured with NVIDIA's GeForce 210M with 512MB of DDR3 VRAM memory. The UL50V model can support up to 8GB of DDR2 memory, while the UL80V can be configured with up to 4GB of DDR3.
Unfortunately, we have no details on the pricing of these models, but, when they'll become available, they will likely ship with a choice for the Windows Vista or the Windows 7 operating system.
