Owners of ASUS Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 devices in India should now be receiving a new software update, meant to provide them with a series of new features and enhancements, namely firmware version 1.16.40.8_20140725_9834.

The new update arrives on devices with a variety of improvements that are common to both Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6, but also with a series of new features exclusive to Zenfone 5, it seems.

Following the installation of the new firmware upgrade, users will enjoy better third-party app compatibility, while also receiving improved stability of system UI and brightness of Flash LED when capturing photos.

Apparently, the new software iteration will deliver a series of new camera improvements to these devices, including a series of enhancements to beautification mode effects, a recent article on fonearena reveals.

To be more precise, users will enjoy new effects such as Skin Softener, Cheek Brush, Face Thinner, and Eyes Enhancement. According to ASUS, all photos taken with the front camera will automatically beautify the skin tone.

Moreover, the update will add a Quick edit button to contact cards, so that users will be able to edit them much faster than before.

The various beautification effects that the new update brings along are meant to provide users with the possibility of enhancing photos faster and more directly.

The new update will also enable transfer of multiple files as a package to another device at once, eliminating the need to transfer each file separately.

Additionally, owners of ASUS Zenfone 5 devices will enjoy support of photo’s location info in Gallery for CN SKU, and will also receive Settings UI of screen wakeup selection when receiving messages.

Additional changes in the update for this device include the option to hide PC Link in Settings, which should offer a better user experience. However, users will still be able to switch input setting when PC Link is enabled.

On top of that, the new software refresh adds a new easy recording security mode, the available release notes reveal.

“For pad version, you can easily and directly launch Sound Recorder from Quick mode without unlocking the screen and you will still keep your recording list unseen at the same time,” ASUS explains.

The new software release is being delivered to all ASUS Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 handsets as an over-the-air update, and users will receive a notification when it is available for them as well.
