Dual-band routers are just getting started off, or at least have been for a while but not at a very rapid pace, and ASUS just revealed its newest such invention.

RT-N53 is the latest product from the Black Diamonds series that ASUS has created.

It may not be selling yet, but the company did set it up for pre-order, both in Europe and in the US.

It is supposed to be priced at 82.20 Euro in Europe, according to this report at least, but that would be rather strange, since the US price is a significantly lower $69.99.

That said, the item has support for both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and can work at up to 300 Mbps at any one time.

This is because, unlike other dual-band routers, it can operate both bands at once.

Four antennas are present, two for each band, and it is possible to set up four wireless networks over the 2.4 GHz band via the 4-network-in-1 function.

The list of hardware components goes on, with 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi, support for five 10/100 Fast Ethernet Ports (four LAN, one WAN) and universal repeater capabilities.

Everything is run by a Broadcom processor, whose clock speed is 533 MHz and which is backed up by 32 MB of RAM (random access memory).

All these features are crammed inside a package that weighs only 330 grams and measures 172 x 145 x 24 mm (6.77 x 5.70 x 0.94 inches).

Wire-free HD video streaming, Internet surfing, online gaming and everything else that relies on a wireless connection should run smoothly as soon as the Black Diamond is installed.
